Negotiating from Your Strengths:  An exploration of the intersection of dispute resolution theory and negotiation strategy.

Do you want to be a better negotiator?  Do you want to sleep better the night before a big negotiation?  This session will help you do both as we explore negotiation through the lens on conflict resolution strategy.  Applying constructs from both conflict resolution and negotiation strategy we will use these models to examine negotiation team development and negotiation strategy.  We will identify ways to work within rather than against your natural strengths.  Join us and learn to create negotiations that are at once more successful and less stressful.

About the Speaker:

Chief Procurement Officer, City of Norfolk

Michael Bevis is an internationally recognized thought leader in the procurement profession.   He has over 30 years of legal and procurement experience and is currently Chief Procurement Officer for the City of Norfolk, Virginia, where he is charged with integrating business, technology, operations and budgeting goals to further the City’s commitment to grow Norfolk’s economy and adopt programs that build a solid foundation for partnering with the business community. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Governing Board of NIGP, the Institute for Public Procurement; represents the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management on the Global Standard Board and is the Chair of the Center for JOC Excellence Owner’s Advisory Board.
